ASPC picks up golden statue of 1st national internal audit award

Arya Sasol Polymer Company (ASPC) receiving the highest score among all the companies (industrial, non-industrial, and service), institutes and organizations, banks and municipalities across the country has succeeded to win the golden statue of Iran’s first national internal audit award.

According to the public relations department of the company, the golden statue of the Iranian internal auditors’ association was conferred upon ASPC during the fourth national congress of internal auditors, which was held on January 9, 2019, in Tehran at the venue of the Research Institute of Petroleum Industry under the theme of “internal auditing, a value-creating skill in successful businesses” attended by the chairman and members of the board of director of the internal auditors’ association and a number of exemplary and veteran auditors.

The award was given to ASPC for its very noticeable performance in improving the stance of internal auditing (e.g. the senior management’s supporting and understanding of auditing unit’s responsibilities, access to resources, speed of progress and achievements of internal auditing in the company, organizational structure of internal auditing including control stations in different sections, organizational culture and integration of internal auditing with other management systems of the company and also utilization of modern data-based auditing approach in implementation of auditing projects).

The fourth national congress of internal auditors was held with the cooperation of the association of Iranian internal auditors aimed at identifying the status of internal auditing in creating value for companies, organization, and institutes. The first national internal audit award was held on the sidelines of the congress to assess capabilities of internal auditing units in the country and to launch a constructive competition in line with improving capabilities of the units. From among 25 organizations which entered the final stage, just two organizations won the required score necessary for receiving the golden statue of the first national internal audit award.

Karafarin, Qavamin, Saman, and Ansar banks as well as Zamyad and Golrang industrial groups were among other participants in this round of the national internal audit award, competing with each other in the six categories of “internal auditing’s role and services”, “management of auditing team”, “professional procedures”, “performance management and accountability”, “organizational culture and relations”, as well as “leadership structure”, to win four levels of statues – golden, silver, bronze, and crystal.

The national internal audit award has been designed based on the internal auditing model of Global Institute of Internal Auditors which is an appropriate criterion for comparative contrast of internal auditing units and identification of their weak and strong points.
